Each pet provides a passive bonus that stacks with other effects, transforming the pets system from a cosmetic feature into a meaningful strategic layer. ๐Ÿพ How the Pets System Works

Pets live in Habitat Modules installed on the van. Each habitat occupies 1 Interior slot and houses one pet. Pets are always with the van โ€” they don't leave the habitat during normal play (unlike the dog, which follows you on foot).

Adoption process (all pets): 1. Find the Paws & Whiskers Lodge for the relevant biome (marked ๐Ÿพ on the map once within 300m) 2. Have the appropriate Habitat Module installed on the van 3. Bring the required adoption item (varies by animal) 4. Interact with the Lodge NPC and select the animal

Passive bonuses: All pet bonuses are passive and always active while the pet is in a habitat with happiness 5+. Bonuses do not stack from the same animal type โ€” you cannot adopt two Hedgehogs for 2ร— detection bonus.

Happiness system: Pets have a happiness meter (1โ€“10) shown in the Habitat Module UI. Feed them daily (pet-specific foods), interact occasionally. Happiness below 5 suspends the passive bonus. Happiness above 8 triggers an occasional "Happy Bonus" event โ€” a small resource drop appearing near the habitat.
